obsession du jour: kate lanphear

source: style scout

So surprised to see Kate without her all black armor! The coat is such a smart way to incorporate a bit of color (well, oatmeal counts right?) into this ensemble. And is that a House of Harlow ring I see? Workinnn it!

beautiful blogger award!

Thank you so much to Jessi of JFD for the Beautiful Blogger Award! I am passing this on to 7 other beautiful bloggers, and I'm also supposed to give 7 interesting facts about myself. Here goes!
1) I have been dancing all my life, I can't live without it. I'm on a hip hop dance team at my college.
2) My interest in fashion came about when I was a senior in high school! I know, late bloomer. I never had the super fashionable mom or grandmother who piqued my interest, I sort of discovered it on my own.
3) Two summers ago when I was in LA I styled a photo shoot for Life & Style Magazine that was filmed by Extra TV. A few weeks later the shoot was aired when I was in a nail salon, which was prettyyyy cool :)
4) I am obsédé with everything French. The language, cuisine, music, and movies -- I can't get enough!
5) I have a (relatively) secret love for baking. Cupcakes and truffles are my fave to make, but I'll pretty much try anything.
6) Despite my obsession with heels, you can almost always find me in my black Chuck Taylors. Girls take note: I wore them out last night with an American Apparel body-con dress and I had at least 15 guys hit on me just to talk about how cool it was that I was wearing Chucks. Maybe next time you'll rethink those heels!
7) I have one brown eye and one blue eye, and the top of the brown one is partially blue (see terribly ridiculous picture below).

style spotting: swept back and wrapped up

source: stockholm street style

I'm always a fan of the messy ponytail...especially here! The way her scarf is wrapped around her neck looks really fresh, and the triple wrapped brown belt adds contrast in color while pulling the outfit together. Amaaaazing look.

photo inspiration: voyage

source: la petite nymphéa

This photo struck me as a message that life at its simplest is a solitary, upwards voyage through which we carry the few worldly possessions that mean the most. I'm feeling inspired to weed out all the excess in my closet and focus on the staples that I would bring with me in this particular suitcase. I think it's one of those pensive days...

obsession du jour: partial braid

source: fashion gone rogue

I love how her braids don't quite finish and are more loosely set. The look is so ethereal. I am planning to grow my hair out super long, completely inspired by the long braids from the runways. My hairdresser recommended the liquid version of Biosil to help it grow. In case any of you are feeling like your hair isn't growing either (isn't that the worst??) -- take 5 mL drops twice a day, in orange juice or something else to cover the taste.

sunshine blog award!

Thank you so much to AH of Confessions of an Anonymous Shopaholic for the Sunshine Blog Award!
You can check out her awesome blog here. Passing this on to six of my favorite blogs :)

Make sure to stop by these girls' blogs! They've got incredibly unique senses of style and are a daily source of inspiration for me.

obsession du jour: chanel spring 2010 couture hair

It seems that everyone's pretty Gaga about this look, and I think I'm jumping on the bandwagon. I loved the blue wisps, the long bangs, and the bow accessories. Runway to real way? Check out Fashionista's DIY post here! I can't wait til my hair is long enough to pull this off. If any of you have tried this out, please send a photo my way! I'd love to see how this plays out in the real world.

your favorite color?

Question from "Ask Me Anything!": your favorite color?

If we're talking about clothing, I'm a neutrals girl through and through. My closet consists of every grey, white, and black in existence with a few colorful pick me ups here and there. In general I tend to love all shades of blue :)

style spotting: black with color pop

source: altamira nyc

This is my everyday armor: as much black as possible with a pop of color. The scarf is a great way to add color -- often I'll go for the colorful shoe, purse, or jewelry. What would a girl do without her accessories?

go on, ask me anything!

Hey y'all,

I've added a widget to the sidebar where you can send in any questions you have! So instead of leaving questions for me in the comments section you can ask me anything you'd like about posts, my life, outfits, whatever and I'll be sure to answer back. Update from Miami: it is beautiful, I am slightly tan, and the Saints fans will not stop cheering "Who dat?!". In summation, I don't want to leave!

gossip girl | cast style

source: tfs

On-screen and off-screen, Gossip Girl cast members are always dressed impeccably. The show's Costume Designer/Stylist, Eric Daman, is who I aspire to be going into the fashion world. His work is amazingly innovative -- I think it's the reason the show has become so popular and why these actors have turned into style icons.
