obsession du jour: letau designs

source: letau designs

I'm always finishing up my Fall layers with a cozy scarf to bundle up. With a great selection of neutrals (Style Spotter approved), Letau designs scarves have me yearning to fill my scarf-drobe to the brim. I'm loving these looks and lusting over the hooded ones as well. So wrapping up [pun, you love it], you're curious yes? Go on and click away to give that neck the respect it deserves.

obsession du jour: details, details

source: altamira nyc

Color, color everywhere! The trend of fashion week. And let's not forget about the gorgeous prints. Anna Selezneva mixes and matches to perfection. Does anyone know who makes these shoes?

food for thought

source: because i'm addicted

These past two weeks have been a whirlwind of new job, fashion week craziness, and my birthday! I turned 22 this week and am excited about my little celebration on Friday with some friends. Wishing I had enough time to whip up something like this (mini grilled cheese with tomato soup) for the party! Back to regular posting soon soon soon...

fashion week: jen kao

Here are the highlights and lowlights from the Jen Kao show last night:

Runway: The whole thing was sand! I got so nervous they would be in heels (thank goodness it was all sandals). I overheard someone saying that the designs in the sand were done by a guy who shows his work in Union Square.

Music: Chris Isaak - Wicked Game. For any Friends lovers out there, this is the song that's played during Rachel and Ross's first date in the museum. I couldn't stop smiling! I found that the song affected the whole pace of the show: it gave it this eerie romantic feel, which totally worked.

Clothes: These pieces would make up my ideal wardrobe while vacationing on St. Barth's. The summer knits and loose neutral fabrics were definitely speaking to me. The models looked absolutely gorgeous coming down the runway with the clothes flowing in the wind.

Hair: The wind tossed, beachy hair seems to be a trend for this season. But this was done all wrong: the hair was more slicked back with grease than anything else. It looked like it hadn't been washed in days and was both knotted and teased. Rather than make a statement, it definitely detracted from the beauty of the clothes.

Models: Bambi! Bambi! Bambi! I couldn't have been more excited to see her in real runway life. The weirdest thing was that one of the models was au naturel, as in probably never shaved her legs before. Add 20 harsh spotlights to a hairy leg and there were some looks, some laughs, and some definite photo opts.

Best outfit: Bambi's second outfit -- a silk bustier dress with knee-high gladiator sandals. Okay okay, so she could pull off wearing a garbage bag with holes for arms and legs, you might say. Well then props to Jen Kao for snagging her because she certainly did those clothes the justice they deserved.

blah blah blah

source: the trashed fashion

Just one of those blah days. I keep seeing these shoes in camel in a shop window by my apartment and wanting them. They are looking pretty saweeet in black. But I'm thinking three pairs of black studded ankle boots is verging on unnecessary. Perhaps, perhaps.

evidence of fairies

source: bec parsons

Random post title, you might say. Agreed, I would answer. Saw a funny post on Studded Hearts that sparked my inspiration. These photos are not, in fact, evidence of fairies. More so evidence of my love for all things Bambi (although fairies are a close second). And so you have it. Happy Monday kittens :)

There seems to be a lot of controversy around this piece and I'm curious to see what you all think. Is this look a niche niche or ach ya?

cross your heart

I'm in the process of ordering this little babe from Seventh Door. Lately I've been feeling like all of my jewelry is just too dainty for me. Considering how simple I usually dress I really need some more chunky numbers to spice up my life. If you come across any sweet new pieces, be sure to pass along the link! [ PS Thank you for the emails about things you think I might be into, lovin' it for real. ]

get the look: color clash

source: vanessa jackman

Over the weekend I picked up Nina Garcia's Look Book: What to Wear for Every Occasion (which you can purchase here!). Nina mentions that we've always been told never to mix brown with black, or either with blue. To create a fresh new look we have to break the rules! This ensemble is the perfect example of breaking these rules and embracing color clash with all three in one look.

obsession du jour: half ring

source: olsens anonymous

I like how she wears the small ring half-way down her middle finger. This is definitely a great way to keep rings that don't fit anymore in the jewelry rotation. It looks stylish when worn with plenty of other stacked rings.

style spotting : bohemian wrap-sody

source: the streethearts

Kristine is almost too cute for words. Her bohemian style is so refreshing, and everything about her says free spirit. The wrap-around head scarf is a definite win for me. Plus she conjured up such an innovative DIY: scarf into pants! Seriously, what's not to love?
